When we look at the history of the Lorex Company, we can see it has been through a lot of changes. However, the systems are still working the same way with some amazing changes. The Lorex Security System Reviews you will find on this blog will allow you to choose the system that better fit your needs.

Moving on, all this owner rotation has been affecting the performances for the devices, and client satisfaction has decreased as we can review on most of the reviews for the Lorex company.

The Dahua company is the actual owner of Lorex technologies, and I can tell they are doing a great job with the company. If you are a Lorex client, you must pass through the new updates on the systems.

Learn about the Dahua Company:

Further, the positive changes with the new Lorex owner, some of them are affecting the performance of the models LHWF-LHB which are Raysharp systems.

The new Firmware upgrades are not properly working on the Raysharp devices, these upgrades are causing some issues on the remote connectivity that is called P2P migration, and the main reason is that during the change of the Lorex server the connection with the Raysharp systems disappears.

If you don’t know yet about the ray sharp models, you can read our LHB926 article as a reference for the Raysharp devices on the link below.

The only way to solve the P2P issues is by contacting the Lorex technical support department.

The Lorex technology by the hand of Dahua company has improved a lot on their systems as we can see on the D841 and N841 examples, new features are coming with new models and different quality upgrade for their cameras.

4K resolution and voice command assistance are some of the new features included in the D841 and N841 latest models. New mobile apps will work on the latest systems with an improvement for video speed and resolution.

No more than that, you can review the latest Lorex systems in the link below.

However, Lorex has been working on new systems. It is always good to review some of the previous concepts the company brings to us on their oldest models, we will compare the old LHV2000-Series DVR with the latest DVR models.

The LHV2000 is a DVR that will have most of the common features for a security system. Motion detection and remote connection are some of the features you will find on any Lorex system, but when looking at the performance, I can tell this model will work excellent with most of the features.

One of my favorite characteristics for this device is the video quality unless it is not 4k the 1080p resolution is more than great on this system.

Lorex Security System Reviews

This system will only support up to 1080p quality on the monitor the same for the cameras. It is compatible with HDMI and VGA video cable and will only work on TVs and monitors. Most of the clients may concern if the system works directly connected to a PC or laptop, but it will not unless you use the Lorex Cloud Client software on your computer.

The standard power adapter for the LHV200 DVR is of 12V 2.0A unless you have a 16 channel LHV2016 with a power adapter of 12V 5A.

The cable connections for the cameras is via BNC which are the standard cables used on digital cameras, the type of cable is an RG59 it will have a video and power cord, you can extend the cables up to 800 ft.

You can purchase any accessory for the LHV2000 DVR on the link below.

What is an LHV2000 DVR?

The DVR model LH2000 system is a digital video recorder manufactured by the FLIR company, characterized by its highly advanced systems, the technology used for the Flir systems incredible, they are the pioneers of most of the features for the other Lorex models.

Email and notifications

For the LHV2000 you will receive notifications for motion, video loss, HDD issues, and tampering this feature will keep you informed of any alert going on with your system.

The notifications can be modified to send an attachment of pictures for the respective alert, and you can set different configurations according to the features of the cameras.

You can enable the email notifications if you select the main menu, click on the hammer and screwdriver icon, NETWORK and then EMAIL this will display the setup menu for the email notifications where you must select a sender and receiver email.

Lorex Security System Reviews

Before you enable the notifications from the EMAIl section, don’t forget to check the SEND EMAIL for the alert you want to activate. You can find the alerts by opening the main menu, clicking on the hammer, and screwdriver icon and then selecting on EVENT.

Push Notifications

Instead of receiving the notifications on your email, you can set up push notifications for your phone. The push notifications will show up on the interface of your phone by showing a little notification alert.

To work with this mobile app feature, you must download the Lorex Cloud app if you have the old Flir Cloud it is necessary to change it to the Lorex Cloud, this new app will let you receive push notifications and much more new features.

You can download the new Lorex Cloud from the apple and play store of your phone, or you can click on the link below to download it now.

Apple: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/lorex-cloud/id1346653498

As soon as you download the app, add your device following the instructions below.

  • LHV2004-DFS3: 00029
  • LHV2004S: 00100
  • LHV2004SP: 00006
  • LHV2008: 00119
  • LHV2008-DFS3: 00028

Recording Schedule

Selecting the recording schedule is one of the most important setups you must do on your system, the recording schedule will define the type of recording for your cameras, you can select between motion and continuous mode.

Continuous: This mode will constantly record on the highlighted schedule, it will fill the hard drive space faster than the motion mode, I recommend to select continuous mode if you have a hard drive space higher than 4TB.

Motion: The motion detection mode will record on motion events, the detection of the event will last 10 seconds you can modify a pre-record time, to extend the recording time for motion events.

Recommendation: Do not select a motion detection recording for cameras located in high traffic areas.

Date & Time

One of the most important details for the video recordings is the time, without having a time set for the cameras you can get confused at the time of doing playbacks. Open the main menu, select the hammer and screwdriver icon, click on general and then select date & time.

Lorex Security System ReviewsYou can manually modify the date & time from the SYSTEM TIME section or change the time zone to the correct one.

Lorex Security System Reviews

*The Time format for the playback section will always be of 24Hr.*

BNC Cameras

The LHV2000 DVR is compatible with 20 types of BNC cameras, some of them are 1080p, 720 or lower resolution, remember this system will not support more than 1080p resolution.

Some of the BNC compatible with the LHV2000 will support audio, PTZ control and siren, make sure to select the correct model for your camera, you can compare and check the camera specifications from the link below.

  • I always refer to the PTZ camera model LZV2226 to work with the LHV2000 DVR. The price of the camera is fair to all of the included features.
  • To install the cameras, try to contact an installer, do not modify or create cable terminations, it will avoid the warranty for future replacements.
  • Make sure to connect the power adapter on power outlets, using different power source could damage the recorder or cameras.

New Models

As we have already reviewed some of the most important characteristics of the LHV2000, we must compare it to the new features of the latest models.

The D841 is one of the latest DVR Lorex systems this device has a lot more features not included on the LHV2000 DVR, besides the great performance of the LHV2000 the features of the new models are incredible, the list below will show up the characteristics included for the newest models:

  • Smart motion detection
  • Siren and warning deterrence light
  • Voice Assistance
  • Lorex Home App compatibility
  • 4k quality for display and camera resolution
  • Two-way audio

You can review how these features work by reading the D841 article.

Common IssuesLorex Security System Reviews

The most common issues for this DVR model are relating to power, by the usage of these devices the power adapter or the DVR used to burn or freeze, this will take the system to a complete loss status.

You must try different power source and power adapter if you have the same issue after checking the power connections most likely the system is damaged, and the resolution will be a replacement for the DVR.

When coming to power issues, the hard drive can be affected by showing an error message on your screen, informing that the hard drive is not properly working. For a no working hard drive try to factory reset the system and different power adapter, after finishing troubleshooting and issue still on the hard drive, you must replace the DVR.

Instead of Power issues, I can tell this video recorder will give other kinds of problems, its a solid system with great durability and performance.

Lorex Security System Reviews

Without more explanation, we can get to the conclusion the LHV2000 is a great system with excellent performance. However, Lorex has been working with advanced technology to improve the quality of their devices. Even though this system is good, it will be better if you update your security with a greater device. You can get good deals on amazon for new systems. As a recommendation, it will be better if you upgrade the whole system as the bundles will have a better price than getting only the DVR itself. I will leave some of the systems I recommend at the end of this article.

Getting an LHV2000 model can be a good deal because of its price, but Lorex is offering better options with more complete systems. I recommend the LHV2000, but it is better to look at new technology as on the D841 model.

Don’t hesitate, if you have an LHV2000 system with issues, change it to a new system since they will work with your cameras with better performance and video quality. Keep in mind that the video cable for the old LHV2000 will only work with 2K cameras or below. If you get 4K you may need to run the cables again as those cameras use a different cable to provide 4K quality on the cameras.

That would be all for this article, I hope that I provide enough information and I was clear with the most relevant details about how the LHV2000 works. If you have any questions or would like to add something to this review, feel free to leave a comment below so we can discuss it. You can get the N841 Lorex NVR through my Amazon affiliate link, it won’t cost you more and I may earn a commission if you do so.

I will leave a link below in case you would like one of the Lorex systems I recommend for your home.
